The cost to play in an Evolving Gauntlet Tournament

Sweet AA Force of the Tomb participation prize
The new Evolving Gauntlet format is a great move by Hex to give newer players better access to the Tournament and limited scenes through the low entry cost of 500P (two packs of Primal Dawn and 100 platinum entry fee) Considering the fact that players get to open two packs and special packs containing commons and uncommons. First off, playing the Evolving Gauntlet is a great way to open Primal Dawn packs while still getting relatively good value, and it's a great way to play limited for cheap.

In addition, players will also get additional value through the launch event through May 2nd through the participation prize of the altered art Force of the Tomb (currently selling for 40-70p on the Trade channel) and the opportunity to win the Lightning Skyhunter which has even more value at over 900p at the time of writing. Since these cards are only available during the launch event, they will be expected to increase in value over the course of Hex's life due to the laws of supply and demand as the supply will be capped after May 2nd. With the current value of Force of the Tomb as a guaranteed prize, Evolving Gauntlet is very easy to come out on top after tournaments even with only a single win!
Win 5 games and you'll earn some serious profit

Assuming the player bought their packs at 170p then paid the entry cost of 100p, here is the breakdown for the cost of playing and opening packs with Evolving Gauntlet with a value of 1/4 a pack per special common and uncommon pack opened and valuing the promotional prize at 45p:

0 wins: 176.25p/pack
1 win: 117.5p/pack
2 wins: 117.5p/pack
3 wins: 88.125p/pack
4 wins: 88.125p/pack
5 wins: -122.5p/pack (With the AA prize of wining 5 games, you're essentially paid to open packs.

Without promotion (math courtesy of /u/Ryantucker1986 on the hex subreddit community:

Win 0, 157.82
Win 1, 115.73
Win 2, 115.73
Win 3,  91.37
Win 4,  91.37
Win 5,  56.21

As you can see, Evolving Gauntlet is a great way to cheaply open packs as well as get a great introduction to the limited format of the game! The new format is great for new and veteran players and offers an experience very similar to sealed at a fraction of the cost. With such a great launch event and low buy in, you should definitely consider playing this format this weekend as well as picking up some cheap Force of the Tomb AA on the trade channel and hold them for long term growth.
